| Project ACE- "Building Bridges Beyond Borders" | Nov 30, 2006 |
This site is our bridge to connect to the world. It is our means to bridge the cultural divide and gain connections (friends) amidst cultural diversity. . Bridges are by definition structures designed and built by some so that others can pass through, hence the altruistic nature of international work. Here lies one of the challenges of initiating international programs in academic environments. It is one way of integrating resources for a greater common good. The most effective international linkages, regardless of their size, scope, goals, and context begin with people who put the common good before their own and cut across barriers to pull together whatever it takes to form that bridge. This is our way of understanding other cultures. . ... This project, ACE- AEC-NET CULTURE and EDUCATION PROJECT is a collaborative project between schools in Malaysia , Indonesia, Poland and the Olongapo City National High School, Philippines as part of the International Linkage Program of the Asia Europe Classroom Network Conference (AECnet). The initial phase of the project will be the face to face encounter between Sekolah Seri Puteri, Selangor, Malaysia , SMA 1 Purwerejo, Indonesia and Olongapo City National High School Philippines. The other phases will be conducted through continuous correspondence with other partner schools in Poland ,the Zespol Szkol Ekonomiczno-Informatycznh via internet. The final phase of the project will be another face to face interaction between other schools in Sarawak , Malaysia and Perak Malaysia , namely; SM Sains Sabah, Riam Road Secondary School and Malay College Kuala, Kangsar, Perak, Malaysia and SMPN 3 Bogor, Indonesia. ACE aims to establish a new development opportunities and exchange of culture, beliefs, practices and pedagogical schemes and styles between and among the partner school. The ACE is designed to stimulate and expand on learning possibilities through varied cognitive, affective and psycho-motor school activities where students share, understand, appreciate and learn cross cultural education through friendly discussions and academic interactions.
